GP Profiles

Dr Amanda Gilliland

Amanda was born and bred in Northern Ireland, educated in Scotland and trained in Sheffield Medical School, qualifying in 1986 when she then moved to the South of England. She initially trained as a surgeon, then as an anaesthetist finally settling into General Practice 22 years ago after half a decade working in Australia. She has worked in Berkshire as an NHS GP since then, with extra hospital clinical posts in Diabetic Medicine and Sexual Health for 10 years.

Amanda now works part time for the NHS in a Maidenhead GP practice and part time in Private General Practice, allowing her to continue to provide a standard of up to date clinical excellence and holistic care to her patients and their families. She also specialises within her general practice role in diabetic medicine, women’s health, sexual health, joint and musculoskeletal injections and particularly enjoys providing a complete approach to health care, both in prevention and management of your family’s health.

When not doing this, she is usually found along the Thames with a large shaggy brown dog.

Dr Jeremy Wheeler

Jeremy trained at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, qualifying in 1981. After completing 3 years of Hospital training around London, and a year as a trainee in General Practice, he joined a long established and well respected practice in Maidenhead in 1985. The partnership was busy with outside commitments one of which included one session each week as a Hospital Outpatient Paediatrician; Jeremy was actively involved in this position for 19 years.

He obtained postgraduate qualifications in obstetrics and gynaecology, family planning, paediatrics and membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners. He has recently been elected Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Jeremy has also been involved and instrumental in research into the use of mobile phone technology to aid patients suffering from long term illnesses.

He was President of the Windsor and District Medical Society for 2016/17.

After 30 years as a GP, Jeremy was approached by colleagues to take over the practice of retiring Private General Practitioner. Jeremy decided to take on this opportunity fully, taking early retirement from NHS general practice and moved to the Princess Margaret Hospital in July 2015.

Jeremy has enjoyed returning to practicing with fewer time and administrative burdens and constraints, allowing longer face to face contact with patients and an ability to be more involved in all aspects of patient care. He is married to Elizabeth and has three adult children. He is keen on walking, running & gardening.
